Preparing for Your First Dance: A Step-by-Step Guide
🎵 1. Choose Your Song
Select your favourite song, or better yet, a shortlist of options. Since the music dictates the dance style, your teacher can help you choose the track that best fits your vision. If you’re stuck, we can provide suggestions and show you how different styles look and feel.
📐 2. Consider Your Venue’s Wedding Dance Floor
The size of your dance floor matters! We take your venue’s dimensions into account when choreographing your routine so you feel comfortable—whether you have a grand ballroom or an intimate space.
👠 3. Practice in Your Shoes
We recommend practicing in your actual wedding shoes (or a similar heel) by your second or third lesson. Switching from flats to heels can change your balance, so practicing in them early ensures no surprises on the big day.
📅 4. When to Start?
Ideally, start 6 to 8 weeks before your wedding. Starting even earlier allows for extra polish and confidence and avoids the "hectic" final weeks. However, no time is too little! If you’ve left it to the last minute, don't panic! We can teach you a beautiful entrance, basic steps, and a final dip in just one or two wedding dance lessons.

We work around your lifestyle. You can visit our dance studio in O’Connor, which is a great location and conveniently close to Fremantle, Cockburn, Melville and only 13 km from Perth, or we can bring the dance floor to you with our Mobile Wedding Dance Lessons in Perth and surroundings! If you prefer to skip the commute, clear some space in your living room and our teachers will come to your home or office at a time that suits you.

⏱️ 6. The Perfect Length
We recommend a first dance of 2 to 2:30 minutes. While many songs are 4 minutes long, dancing solo for that long can feel like an eternity when all eyes are on you! We can edit your music to a shorter version or help you coordinate a moment for your bridal party to join in.
To keep the energy high:
• Fade the song out early or have us edit it for you.
• Invite your bridal party or guests to join you halfway through.

All lessons are 60 minutes. We record a video at the end of each session so you can practice at home.
"Last Minute" Package ($100 Studio / $110 Mobile)
One lesson providing essential guidance and basic moves for a memorable dance.
"Simple but Impressive" Package ($270 Studio / $300 Mobile)
Three lessons featuring a fully choreographed routine with an entrance, lifts, and dips. Includes free music editing.
"Extra Special Choreography" Package ($400 Studio / $450 Mobile)
Five lessons for those wanting advanced moves, song mashups, or extra polishing. Includes free music editing.
Note: Family dances (Father/Daughter, etc.) can be incorporated into any multi-lesson package.

A: Absolutely! Most of our couples are total beginners. We specialize in making you look natural and confident without feeling overwhelmed.

A: Yes! The 3 and 5-lesson packages allow you to incorporate family dances. It’s a wonderful way to involve your loved ones.
Q: What if our song is a weird length?
A: No problem. We provide free music editing with all multi-lesson packages to ensure your song is the perfect length for your wedding dance.
